Discover the expressive voice of the flute while building a strong technical foundation. Practice breath control, tone production, articulation, and musical phrasing, developing the skills and confidence to bring music to life with clarity and expression.

Technique - learn proper posture, breath control, vibrato, and other essential techniques involved in playing the flute
Note reading - practice reading alphabet-based sheet music (beginner) or musical notation (intermediate) to play any song
Pitch - acquire a large range of pitches on the flute from alto to soprano, to play at any pitch and on any scale
Rhythm - become skilled at navigating rhythms, and acquire proper timing and beat to play in groups and solo
Group - experiment with group music ensembles, practice harmonizing with peers, participate in group activities and exercises, and receive peer motivation

Note: Students must have a flute that meets the following requirements:
A C-flute with an offset G
A split E is recommended

This course is intended for girls with little or no musical background, but the curiosity and motivation to learn an instrument that is both creative and beautiful. It offers introductory concepts to music and pitch as well as the skill and technique necessary to make breathtaking music.

Students walk away with the knowledge, ability, and artistry to play the flute in magnificent solos as well as accompaniments, with proper stance and performance.

Esther’s lifelong dedication to music began with private music lessons at a young age. Trained in music theory, piano, and flute, she has extensive experience in both performance and accompaniment. Her strong musical foundation, combined with a commitment to excellence, is reflected in both her teaching and her own musicianship, inspiring students to develop skill, confidence, and lasting appreciation for music.
